Part-Time Front-end Web Developer

Storekat – Posted by Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Job Description

About the Job

We are looking for a passionate front-end engineer to help iterate our product servicing the logistics industry. You’ll be a valued member or our small but dedicated team, developing new features and have genuine influence on product direction to bring the logistics industry into the 21st century. The job requires someone that can move quickly to bring ideas into reality as well as address bugs and issues as they arise.

Our front-end is an Angular single page app that relies on Google Maps libraries, jQuery, Bootstrap.js… the usual libraries you’d expect to find. The back-end is written in ASP.NET (C#) with a MySQL database and runs on AWS in a highly available configuration.

We have heaps of projects we need to get started on yesterday, ranging from run of the mill SEO optimisation of our flagship platform to entire new features and offerings – Variety is the name of the game!

Initially we would like to engage you on a contract basis so we can get to know you, and you can get to know us. If we’re all having a blast together, we’d like you come on full time and will offer compensation of both cash and equity.

About you

You’ve been in the web development game for a few years now. You know the difference between an ugly hack and quality, scalable and robust code. You document/comment as you go (where appropriate) because that’s how you like to receive other people’s code. You’re able to quickly figure out what’s going on in someone else code and figure out how it all hangs together. You’re competent with graphic design tools and can pull together the components that make a fantastic user experience a reality.

You’re ideally based in Victoria, Australia but we’re open to other locations for the right person. You’d be working from home or a co-working space to start with, communicating over Slack, Zoom or phone but meeting with the team in person on a regular basis.

From a technical perspective, you’re confident working with the following technologies:

  • Javascript, HTML, CSS
  • AngularJS (including Google Maps/Places libraries)
  • jQuery
  • Bootstrap
  • Grunt Task Runner
  • Git
  • Adobe Creative Suite

An understanding of the full stack would be an advantage, especially in the following areas:

  • ASP.NET MVC / WebAPI (C#) in Visual Studio
  • MySQL
  • AWS

Bonus points for:

  • Team City, Jenkins or similar CI/CD toolset
  • Writing automated unit/integration tests

From a people perspective, you love to just get stuff done with a smile on your face. You’re a good communicator, able to articulate problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’ve got a great sense of humour and it certainly doesn’t hurt if you’re partial to good coffee or the odd beer.
