Full-Time Data Scientist/Analyst

About the Role

Having built out a rapidly expanding online services marketplace, business intelligence has been and will always be one of the most important factors for success.

With a significant amount of rich data flowing through the platform, we are looking for a data focussed individual who can see beyond the numbers and connect the dots in order to identify pockets of opportunity and underlying trends that can drive the business forward. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Working with all departments of the business including engineering, marketing and C-level management, you will use your advanced analytical skills to develop dashboards, structured reports and regularly present new findings to the business. Reporting to the COO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct sophisticated analyses of all data sets to provide strategic oversight and uncover trends within the business
  • Build and maintain ongoing, automated data mining solutions that allow important KPIs to be measured and tracked over time
  • Work with all areas of the business to ensure required data sets are immediately available to enable opportunities to be capitalised within a short time frame
  • Provide quantifiable and statistical analysis of metrics before and after key drivers are introduced to the business and/or platform to understand the effectiveness of changes to the business
  • Integrate multiple sources of data to build a single source of truth that can be easily accessed and customised for the team, allowing each team member to understand the broader impact of projects across each area of the business
  • Work closely with the BDM team to provide information rapidly in regards to new opportunities for the business

Knowledge and Skills Required: 

  • 3+ years as a data scientist working in an organisation with an intensive online component at its core
  • Expert use of SQL and experience with relational databases
  • Experience with Looker, Qlikview, Tableau and other popular reporting frameworks
  • Experience with integrating common sources of online reporting such as Google Analytics, Crashlytics, advertising platforms, etc
  • Excellent English communication skills as to clearly illustrate to the team a story behind the numbers, communication will be paramount
  • Background in statistical analysis with exposure to adjacent industries beyond technology being a value add
  • Ability to listen and take direction, but work autonomously to build a solution that hits the goals of a brief
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and capability to shift focus regularly in regards to business direction
  • Able to independently complete solution implementation or application design deliverables.
